Fees for Recycling Services are increasing on March 9, 2026
Beginning March 9, the DCRC will be increasing the fees for several recycling services. This change is necessary to offset the rising operational costs at the recycling center, as well as to meet the growing demand for our community. Fees for tires have not been increased since June of 2022. Fees for freon appliances have not been increased since 2015. Please note that while the price for televisions has not increased, the DCRC will now be charging residents for monitors. Laptops and tablets are not included as monitors. The changes will ensure that we are able to continue to serve the recycling needs of Dearborn County residents. Visit the link below to view the new prices.
We are no longer accepting latex paint in the Drive-Thru.
It is safe to put latex paint in your trash once it is dry.
How to dry out your paint:
- Air-dry latex paint by removing the lid from the paint can and allowing the liquid to evaporate. This works best for small quantities – i.e., an inch at the bottom of the can – and can take several days, so be prepared to be patient.
- To speed up the process, use a drying agent. Mix an equal amount of an absorbent material, such as cat litter, into the paint can and allow the paint to dry. In addition to cat litter, you can use sawdust, plaster of Paris, Oil-dri, or a product called waste paint hardener, which can be purchased at home improvement stores.
