The Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District was formed in 1993 to inspire and assist residents and businesses within the county to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and properly dispose of solid waste.

The District offers accessbile and convenient recycling to county residents with the drive-thru Recycling Center open  each weekend and the 13 drop off locations available 24/7. Household hazardous wastes are collected monthly April thru November or by appointment. The District also offers collection of special "Nuisance Items" such as tires, bateries and electronics. Creation Station, the first reuse program of its kind in southeastern Indiana, is a clearinghouse for materials that are available to any Dearborn County teacher or not-for-profit educator at no charge.

The District offers free educational programs to youths and adults, schools, community organizations and individuals on a variety of solid waste issues. Please contact the educator to schedule a program.

Executive Board

The District is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors, appointed by virtue of their elected positions. The Board meets the third Thursday of each month at 11am at Lawrenceburg City Hall.

Citizens Advisory Committee

Eleven members of the community serve on the Citizens Advisory Committee. The Citizens Advisory Committee was formed to collect public input and present it to the Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District Board. The committee shall study subjects as specified by the Board and may recommend addititional subjects for study. The Citizens Advisory Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm at the Recycling Center.
