DEARBORN COUNTY RECYCLING CENTER

The Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District was formed in 1993 to inspire and assist residents and businesses within the county to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and properly dispose of solid waste.

The District offers accessible and convenient recycling to county residents in the Drive-Thru Recycling Center open 37 hours each week and 14 drop-off locations available 24/7. The Drive-Thru accepts tires, non-alkaline batteries, appliances, fluorescent bulbs, motor oil and electronics and more. Household chemicals and other hazardous wastes are collected in the Drive-Thru as well. Creation Station, the first reuse program of its kind in southeastern Indiana, is a clearinghouse for materials that are made available to any Dearborn County teacher or not-for-profit educator.The District offers free educational programs to youth and adults, schools, community organizations and individuals on a variety of topics.

Executive Board

The District is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors, appointed by virtue of their elected positions. The Board meets on the third Thursday of each month at 11am at Lawrenceburg City Hall. Joint meeting with CAC held January 9 at 11am at Recycling Center. July joint meeting at regular Board meeting time.

Citizens Advisory Committee

Nine members of the community serve on the Citizens Advisory Committee. The CAC was formed to collect public input and present it to the Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District Board. The committee shall study subjects as specified by the Board and may recommend additional subjects for study. The CAC meets on the second Tuesday of January (joint meeting), March, May, September and November at 6:30pm at the Recycling Center. July joint meeting held 7/19 at 11am at Lawrenceburg City Hall. Members are:
