Mission Statement
The mission of the Dearborn County Solid Waste District is
to foster a sense of responsibility and inspire action by Dearborn County
Residents to reduce solid waste by creating an awareness and commitment to
reduction, reuse and recycling programs.
The Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District was formed
in 1993 to inspire and assist residents and businesses within the county to
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and otherwise properly dispose of solid waste.
The District offers accessible and
convenient recycling to county residents with the
drive-thru Recycling Center
open weekends and the ten drop-off locations available 24/7.
Household hazardous waste are collected monthly April thru November or by
appointment.
Creation Station, the first reuse program of its kind
in southeastern Indiana, is a clearinghouse for materials that are available to
any Dearborn County teacher or not-for-profit educator at no charge.
Free
educational
programs are available through the District for schools, churches, youth and
other community organizations on a variety of solid waste issues. Please
contact our educator to schedule a program for your group.
