Mission Statement

The mission of the Dearborn County Solid Waste District is to foster a sense of responsibility and inspire action by Dearborn County Residents to reduce solid waste by creating an awareness and commitment to reduction, reuse and recycling programs.

The Dearborn County Solid Waste Management District was formed in 1993 to inspire and assist residents and businesses within the county to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and otherwise properly dispose of solid waste.

The District offers accessible and convenient recycling to county residents with the drive-thru Recycling Center open weekends and the ten drop-off locations available 24/7.  Household hazardous waste are collected monthly April thru November or by appointment.  Creation Station, the first reuse program of its kind in southeastern Indiana, is a clearinghouse for materials that are available to any Dearborn County teacher or not-for-profit educator at no charge.

Free educational programs are available through the District for schools, churches, youth and other community organizations on a variety of solid waste issues.  Please contact our educator to schedule a program for your group
